How do humans persuade each other?
By appealing to either reason or emotions. The use of logic or faith. Shooting an argument or a bullet.
Indeed, society has made progress through the use of reason, logic, and persuasive arguments.
But since most of us are averse to progress, we opt for emotions, faith and coercion as means of engaging with others.
These are the modus operandi of religion and politics.
For religion treats humans as sheep, and politicians present themselves as the shepherds.
But if a human being took some time to think for himself, he would realize that he is neither sheep nor in need of a shepherd.
Life is life.
