Happiness

Happiness is a highly sought-after commodity, yet most elusive.

It is marketed as something you pick off the shelf in the happiness open market.

There are many traders in the happiness marikiti, selling the same thing, just packaged differently.

The preacher sells penance and hope.

The bar owner supplies you with alcohol, substances and sherehe.

The therapist offers you a buffet of gratitude, affirmations and positivity.

The celebrity peddles success and fame.

The motivational speaker hustles you with morning routines, self-help hacks and trusting the process.

The doctor prescribes some pills.

They all say “follow the formula and you’ll be happy”.

But one never quite gets it. You’re either making progress or just not doing it right.

Life is life.
