We will all die.
Through disease, accident or the cruel hand of man.
Since how we die is largely outside our control, a pertinent question arises,
How then do we live? To answer how to live, we must first ask what a good life is.
Who lives a good life?
A king or a pauper?
A master or a servant?
A ruler or a subject?
Renowned or obscure?
Genius or inept?
Invariably, we find ourselves somewhere in between. And we will probably die without attaining either.
Also, strictly speaking, none of these states constitute a good life.
For they are only external decorations that tell us very little about the internal state of the person.
So then, let us turn inward.
What is a good internal state?
Perhaps, one unencumbered by worry.
But even if a man is free of worry, what does he do with his worry-free day?
He does that which he desires to do.
