This question is asked from an understanding that nightmares only happen while one is asleep.
But if one examined his experience while he is awake during the day, he would realize that the nightmares he experiences at night, are a continuation of his daytime nightmares.
The life of a human being is a nightmare incarnate. It is a horror movie.
He lives through anxiety, fears and confusions that paralyze his ability to live.
He has nightmares about his work. Nightmares about his children. Nightmares about his neighbors. Nightmares about his spouse. Nightmares about money, his health and future.
